Jet and Pepper are my very first tortoise pets. Although they are no longer similar in size, (Pepper is twice Jet's size), they are both 3 years old. My leopards hatched on December 11, 2021. They are siblings from the same clutch of eggs. And according to their breeder, their mom and dad's name is Daisy and Jupiter.
I received Jet and Pepper around the end of winter, on March 17, 2022, from C and C Tortoises.
As three-month old babies who were stressed, experienced a whole day in a moving box, they were scared and shy.
However, after a few weeks of adjusting to their new home, they finally warmed up and started to show their personality.
Jet and Pepper are both very outgoing and curious. They enjoy walking around their enclosure and loves to climb.
Jet loves to interact, often coming close to the door and stare (honestly, she just like to ask for a snack with her cute face and googly eyes). She is also brave and handles stressful situations well; for example, going to the vet when her beak cracked or when I had to flush her nares because something got stuck.
Pepper on the other hand, prefers to be left alone, especially if there's no snacks. He hates the sound of the vacuum cleaner, often quickly hiding away once he hears it. Unlike Jet, he is an early riser, often already walking around at 5 o'clock in the morning (he also hits the sack as early as 4 o' clock in the afternoon).
And like any other tortoises, they love love love to eat!
Upon their arrival here at their forever home, both weighed about 45 grams, so tiny and precious. Now, they are above 1kg haha.
They are currently housed in an amazing custom 8x4x4 feet PVC enclosure from the 4x2x2 PVC and 3x2x1 glass enclosure they were previously in.
TITTLES & LIL FOOT'S stories will be up soon...!
Tittles and Little Foot came into our lives on November of 2023; it has been about 2 years since and they certainly have established their routine within the creep.
Tittles, now my eldest tort, was 2 years old when I adopted her. When she was younger, she lost her left eye due to an accidental bite from a bigger tortoise at her previous home. Thankfully, her previous family gave her all the care that she needed to survive the injury. Although she has an altered depth perception and her panoramic view is now much limited, it does not let it get in the way of her goals. She gets around just fine, she never misses out on the chin and head scratches, and she never let anything affect her big appetite! Tittles is the sweetest of all the torts and my gentle giant. Her stress threshold is much greater than the other torts and she is the bravest of them all!
Little Foot, the littlest of the leopard tortoises, is a much more shy and reserved tortie. He loves his routine exploration and climbing excursions. Even though he is the youngest of them all, he is not a push over, especially when it comes to meal time; in fact, he beats everybody to the plate most of the time. All of the tortoises get along very well but Little Foot loves his alone time preciously; he finds the nooks where the others do not bother him and takes a relaxing nap (especially in the afternoon). He is somewhat selective when it comes to play time or socialization time but very decisive during snack time!!!
